Stetson Leonard - MS Boys Basketball
Stetson "Stetty" Leonard is an 8th grader on the MS Boys Basketball team, and he has been just that for the Tide lately. His recent steady performances earned him back to back athlete of the week honors. He and several of his teammates have been improving and becoming more consistent, leading the boys basketball team on a four game win streak. Stetson helped to secure that last night vs Auburn with 16 points and a handful of steals.
Jessenia Poindexter - MS Girls Basketball
Jessenia is an 8th grader on the MS Girls Basketball team. Jessenia is consistently one of the best teammates and encouragers on the team, being kind to every single one of her teammates. That leadership was on display this week, as she ran the floor and took charge of the court, pulling up for some key jumpers and dishing out some assists last night vs Auburn. Her performance, leadership, and encouragement is infectious, and because all of these girls are on fire, they are currently sitting at 15-0 on the season!

The Boys team has steadilty imrpoved this season and are currently on a 4 game win streak!
MS Wrestling went to Carroll for a tri with the Cavaliers and Floyd County. They had an impressive win vs Carroll and then went 4-4 against Floyd, but were just edged out by points. They will wrap up their season with a HOME quad that has been added to the schedule on December 12th!
Our cheer girls are multi-talented, and several had events that pulled them away from games last week. This week, the squad was back in full force! They led the charge in an undefeated week for the Tide!
Spring Sports are just around the corner. More information to come, but there will be a baseball information meeting right when we get back from break. Baseball, Softball, and Soccer schedules are in the process of a little rearranging, but are almost finalized and will be out soon!
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition.
