Jesse Willis - MS Wrestling
Jesse is a 7th grader on the MS Wrestling team. He has made some of the biggest improvements of anyone and has taken on the responsibility this year of putting in the work. That work paid off at their quad at Grayson. The Tide were down to Grayson and needed a pin to win the match. There was only one wrestler left to go, Jesse. He stepped up when the team needed him, getting the win, getting it by pin, and helping the Tide secure the win over Grayson.
Haley Bond - MS Girls Basketball
Haley is a 7th grader on the MS Girls Basketball team. Haley, like the team itself, is so well-rounded, and she brings the energy, decision making, and consistency night after night. In the first game of the week against Rural Retreat the Tide put up 47 points. Everyone shared the ball and most of the girls put some points on the board. Haley not only brought the same player we can always count on, but she stepped it up and led in scoring as well. The team is on roll, and that win gave the double digit victories on the season with no losses up to this point.

Making Waves
MS Basketball went up against Rural Retreat and Giles this week. Giles is a tough atmosphere to play in, but the girls were able to pick up a win there, as well against Rural Retreat. The girls are now 11-0 on the season. Catch both the boys and the girls in back to back action Monday and Tuesday before we go on Thanksgiving break!
MS Swim had their region championship meet in Bristol postponed due to weather. They will try again this Monday before Thanksgiving break!
MS Wrestling went to Grayson for a quad with them, Carroll, and Chilhowie. Chilhowie only had 6 wrestlers, but they were tough. The team came out of the match with wins over Grayson and Carroll. They are now 5-3 on the season with another week of back to back matches on Monday and Tuesday before getting out for Thanksgiving!
Cheer was loud and proud at the basketball game vs Rural Retreat. They brought the house down again with another halftime show that included cheers, dancing, and stunts!
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition.
