Cayden Anderson - MS Boys Basketball
Cayden is an 8th grader on the MS Boys Basketball team. As a veteran player, he knew he would have to step into a leadership role this year on a young team. The boys came up short in the season opener but Cayden tried to lead by example by putting up half of the team's points. The team, himself included, has committed to working hard in practice to continually improve. They know what it is going to take to be successful.
Alaya Poindexter - MS Girls Basketball
Alaya is an 8th grader on the MS Girls Basketball team. The team had an impressive 48-14 season opener over Carroll this past week. Alaya led the way with 15 points. Up 10-0 at just over a minute into the game, and up 22-0 at the end of the first, the whole team was getting involved, energized, and making contributions. It may just be the first game, but one can tell this is going to be a fun team to watch this year!

Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition.
