MSPABA Meetings
Every 3rd Wednesday - 6:30 PM - TMS or LJMS Band Rooms
Middle School Performing Arts Boosters Association plays a huge role in creating opportunities for TMS and LJMS Band students. Their fundraising fills in the gaps when the budget the district provides doesn't quite stretch far enough. We're so lucky to have parents dedicated to creating opportunities for all students. Historically, TMS parents have been underrepresented in MSPABA. Please consider coming out once a month to advocate for TMS students!

One Time Events:
Band Parent Meeting and Instrument Petting Zoo (Mandatory for all band students)
9/6/2023 - 6:30 PM - TMS M.U.
Mandatory informational meeting for all parents to review the expectations in place for TMS Band Students, sign up to receive band related communications through Remind, and to go over this year's band calendar. Additionally, there will be instrument demonstrations and students new to TMS Band will have the opportunity to try out some of the instruments available to them before making a decision on what they want to play.
Cazadero Music Camp Jumpstart Weekend (Advanced Band Only)
September TBD - Cazadero Music Camp
I'm working on finding funding to send our students to Cazadero Music Camp's Jumpstart Weekend again this year. It was an amazing experience last year that was pivotal in getting our band off to a great start. Students head out to the redwoods to work with groups from other schools to put a concert together in only three days. It's an incredible experience and a great chance for students to get to know each other early in the year. More Info Here
Winter Concert (Mandatory for all band students)
12/13/2023 - 6:30PM - TMS M.U.
Come out to TMS for our first opportunity to show off what we've learned so far this year! Students will be performing winter and holiday themed music on stage in the Multi-Use Room at TMS. This is a mandatory, graded performance for all band students. Student must wear concert black and white. This, ideally, means dress pants and shirts or dresses. If your child doesn't have dress clothes that fit, it's okay to wear black pants and a plain black t-shirt.
Spring MSPABA Fundraiser
February-March TBD
We will likely see the return of a winter fundraiser event for our boosters organization, MSPABA. In the past, students have performed at these fundraisers. Come to MSPABA meetings (more info below) to help plan the event.
Spring Adjudicated Festival (Mandatory for Advanced Band only. Other band students invited to support)
March/April/May TBD
Instead of attending the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, we will be separating our adjudicated festival performance from our community building end of year field trip. I'm looking at options for local band festivals we can attend and will have more information as schedules begin to get published.
Spring Concert and Potluck (Mandatory for all band students)
5/15/2024 - 6:00PM - Alicia Park
We're returning to Alicia Park for our outdoor concert and potluck. Bring some food to share and enjoy the sound of a year's worth of progress! This is a mandatory, graded performance for all band students. Students must wear their band t-shirt with school appropriate bottoms of their choice.
End of Year Community Building Field Trip
May TBD
As mentioned above, in lieu of our Six Flags trip, we will be doing a standalone field trip for band community building and bonding. I'm looking at options and will provide more information as I have it.
