Hey New FCCLA Chapter Advisers!
On behalf of the State Executive Council, State Staff, Region Officer Teams, and Region Advisers, we would like to welcome you to our Georgia FCCLA Family! If you are a brand new teacher straight out of college or a new teacher to CTAE and Family and Consumer Sciences, we are glad that you have found FACS Education and hope you enjoy the benefits that FCCLA gives to you and your students. I know that preparing a new curriculum and starting/re-starting an FCCLA Chapter can be a daunting task at the beginning of the school year. Please know that we are here to support you and help you as you learn the ins and outs of Georgia FCCLA. I always tell my new advisers to just try one in year one. Pick one competition, pick one National Program and come to the conferences/events. We have over 40 National and State competitions and 8 National Programs and learning about all of them at one time is definitely overwhelming! Find the competition and National Program that fits best to your curriculum and then you can build on your FCCLA knowledge throughout your career.
I wish you the best of luck as you get into your classrooms for the first time and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

WHERE DO I EVEN START?
5 ACTION ITEMS TO GET YOU STARTED
1. Sign Up for the Memo Monday
The Memo Monday is a weekly newsletter created by the Executive Director and distributed through MailChimp Services.
If you have signed up and still are not receiving the Memo Monday, email Caitlin Roberson at croberson@gafccla.com to check on the status.
2. Access the National FCCLA Portal for your Chapter. (SEE BELOW)
When you get into the portal, for right now, bypass all of the confirmations and just do a quick tour of all of the tabs. Don't let this portal be overwhelming... here are the 3 tabs to check out.
Go ahead and update your Chapter Information and Adviser Information
It is important to update your Adviser Information with your current contact information, so that you can be included in the Fast Facts Newsletter, which is an electronic bi-weekly newsletter from National FCCLA through Constant Contact Services.
The most beneficial tab for you at this time is the Resources Tab
When you get into the Resources Tab, it should look like the picture below.
You can Search and Star your favorite resources. This will help tremendously when you are looking for a specific document, so please use these tools.
3. Determine what Region your chapter is in and contact your Region Adviser & Officers.
View the Map below and determine what region your Chapter is in.
Once you have found your Region, contact your Region Adviser (Info below the map)
Your Region Adviser is a wealth of knowledge for FCCLA. Each Region Adviser coordinates the Region Fall Meeting and Region STAR Events Competition at their school.
By contacting your Region Adviser, you will ensure that they have your contact information so you are included in any emails that they send out for the Fall.
Contact your Region Officer Team at region#@gafccla.com (Ex. region1@gafccla.com)
Region Officer Teams are comprised of 1 to 3 student leaders within your Region.
These officers report to the Region Adviser and State Office.
They are an essential part of the Fall Region Meeting, Region STAR Events in February, and Region Meeting at the State Leadership Conference.
