Even the unmodified Pokemon GO Plus + sometimes has this issue where the firmware locks up and causes random issues. Most random issues are solved by performing a Quick Reset or Factory Reset. 

First, ensure your ULTRA MOD is charged and set to MANUAL mode.

• To perform a Quick Reset: Press and release the Back Reset button. This briefly interrupts power from the battery and forces a soft reboot of the device without reverting all settings.

• To perform a Factory Reset: hold the Side Button down and press and hold the Reset Button for at least 5 seconds. If you previously paired the device with Pokemon GO, forget it by pressing the eject button under Accessory Devices and then repeat the First-Time Pairing steps. 

This happens for one of two reasons:

The "Enable Poké Ball Auto-Throw" setting is turned ON

• This setting overrides all other functions and will prevent the ULTRA MOD from working properly. 

• Solution: Turn OFF "Enable Poké Ball Auto-Throw".

The standard Poke Ball is selected under "Button-Throw Poké Ball Selection"

• Solution: Select a different ball type.

The Special Research "Catching Some Z's" will automatically unlock the first time you connect a Pokémon GO Plus + to your account. From there, you must track your sleep over several nights to unlock each encounter.

Note: You can unlock the Special Research only once per account. It is permanent and will not disappear if you unpair or change devices.

Progress toward the "Catching Some Z's" Special Research is immediately granted when you connect your device to the app. However, daily sleep-tracking rewards are only earned at the time of day configured in your Accessory Device settings. 

You can only earn one sleep-tracking reward each day, and any sleep logged after the configured time will count toward the following day's rewards. Make sure to set this time well after you normally wake up! 

The flashing red light indicates that the battery level is critical and needs to be charged. 

Most ULTRA MODs ship with a minimal battery charge for safety. If you've just received your device, plug it in and give it at least 30 minutes to charge before use (or 2~3 hours to fully charge). Once the battery indicator turns a solid orange, the device has just enough battery to start using.

This behavior is expected and only happens when the ULTRA MOD is switched to AUTO mode while disconnected from Pokemon GO. This will not harm the device or erase unlogged sleep sessions (>90 minutes) but may decrease your battery life if left unattended for long periods.

To fix the flashing, switch over to MANUAL mode while disconnected from the game. 

Why? The ULTRA MOD essentially works by rerouting signals originally sent to the vibration over to the Main Button to automatically throw Great and Ultra Balls. However, when disconnected from the game, the device interprets the signal as the user wanting to start/stop sleep-tracking, resulting in an infinite loop.
