September 9, 2021 Issue (next issue on September 23, 2021)
Greetings GAA Families,
First and foremost, I hope that you are safe and well. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for your continued support as we begin our new school year in a time of uncertainty. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Finally, thank you for choosing us to be part of your child’s first experience of education. We are committed to ensuring our KG vision for learning is embedded in all that we do, even while wearing masks and socially distancing.
We have worked hard to adapt our classroom environments to maintain high safety standards while fulfilling our vision for play-based learning.
Our KG school hours will resume to 7:45am-2:15pm from September 12th. The modified day during staggered start has been so beneficial to ensure our KG students have had sufficient time to adapt to their new environment and routines.
You and your children have been so helpful with drop off and pick up procedures. This process enables us to ensure social distancing protocols of all staff and students. Our QR code system (pictured below) has been a positive process to ensuring a smooth transition.
It has been an unprecedented time and we are committed to supporting you and your family through ‘the new normal’. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything.
Best,
Niamh Callanan
KG Vice Principal
Hello KG families and friends,
School has begun in a big way for our new KG1 A students. They have spent this first few weeks meeting new friends and getting used to their teachers. They have been learning the rules of the classroom as well as adding some of their own. They have listened to stories: The kissing hand; Bono the monkey goes to school, and No David. They have excitedly peered into their lunch boxes to see what mommy and daddy sent them for snack/lunch.
A lot of time has been spent talking about healthy habits. We watched the short movie: Germy the Germ and then drew our own Germy. We completed a science experiment using pepper, water and soap to learn about how important it is to wash our hands with soap to keep Germy the germ away. And of course they have had a marvelous time playing in their new classroom environment.
Here are some photos of our fun times:
Our little scholars are settling in and making lots of new friends in KG2E.
