Issue # 6 - November 24, 2023
Thank you to those students who dressed in our spirit week themes this week. There were some terrific efforts.
The GAA dress code allows for comfortable shoes of various colors. We will not allow Crocs to be worn as they pose a safety concern and over step the boundaries of being outside of our guidelines for closed toe shoes. Thank you for your support.
Please find our slideshow from last Tuesday evening’s presentation here. Many thanks to Ms. Sciolis, Ms. Noronha, Ms. Martin and Mr. Thompson for their efforts on this front.
Have a nice weekend!
Mr. Wyncoll
Dear Secondary Families,
Please find the schedule for National Day on Wednesday the 29th. Included are the following points of interests:
Run of Show
Food
Behavior expectations
Please note that we will have regular scheduled classes (HEFG), but will run a half day schedule.
A potluck will be held during Advisory. Please adhere to the following steps:
Students will bring a dish to share and leave in the cafeteria at the designated table at the BEGINNING of the day
Students will complete a label with the student’s name, grade level and advisory teacher
If dropping off food, it needs to be brought to the school BEFORE 12. A label must be completed (see above bullet).
Students cannot order from Talabat or Deliveroo.
Only members of Student Government will facilitate the transportation of Potluck food to Advisory rooms.
Food trucks -various food trucks will be available during the outside portion of the day (same part of the day for both middle school and high school).
Students who choose to avail of food here must bring funds to purchase food. They need to bring their funds or cell phone with them in order to purchase. We request this to decrease the frequency of coming in and out of the school.
Students will not be allowed back upstairs after they head downstairs for National Day activities in the afternoon. Students will take their bags with them after their potluck in Advisory.
Restrooms and water are available on the green veranda. Students need to bring their water bottle so that you are able to replenish your water as needed.
Students must wear their Student ID around their necks all day. This is a health and safety requirement.
Students are to wear either their GAA uniform or National Dress. All clothing must be in adherence to the expectations around modesty.
No animals are allowed, unless approved by the National Day Committee PRIOR to the day. Students must see Mrs. Mollie Williams to discuss this.
No silly string, water balloons or water guns can be brought on the campus
No visitors are allowed, alumni included.
Students must fully adhere to the Student Code of Conduct Handbook.
Thank you,
Secondary National Day Committee
Dear Families,
It was a busy week filled with field trips and some cool clothing. It can be rather stressful taking over 100 kids off of campus, but our Heads of Grades did a great job in facilitating the trips and keeping our kids safe. A big thank you to Ms. Strong, Mr. Hogan, and Mr. Richardson.
Next week we are celebrating everyone's favorite day, National Day! Please keep an eye out for an email for your child's Advisory teacher for the food sign up.
Reminders:
CAT4 tests will take place next week for Grades 6 and 8 in their PE classes
Wednesday is our National Day celebration.
Next week is a Blue week, we start on Monday with Block G.
Have a great weekend.
Ms. Williams
