March 11, 2022 Issue (next issue on March 25, 2022)
Good afternoon Middle School Families,
We hope all had an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers during our Parent Teacher conferences. If you were not able to attend, we invite you to email your child’s teachers and set a time that works best for both of you to meet over Zoom.
It is that time of year where we will be sending out information about your child's elective choices for next year. Ms.Nora Eldrageely and I will be meeting with current grade 5 students as well as current grade 6 and 7 students to discuss their Group designations (Group 1 - Arab/Muslim, Group 2 - Arab/Non Muslims, Groups 3 - Non Arab/Muslim, and Group 4 - Non Arab/Non Muslim) and what this means for their elective choices. This will all be explained to students and parents, but essentially, Group 1 and Group 3 have one elective option because they take an additional class which is Islamic and UAE SS in Arabic and Group 2 and 4 will have two elective options to fill their necessary 8 classes plus Advisory. We will roll out to students and parents next week (March 18th) in Advisory classes for students and emails and informational videos will go out to parents. All will be explained.
With new changes from the ADEK and the DOH with close contacts to Covid Positive cases, students who are identified as a close contact will simply need to get a PCR test and can return to school as normal, unless they have symptoms, in which they will need to stay home. All information is shared by our PRE when a student has been identified as a close contact.
We are still looking to improve our morning attendance as we have large portions of students arriving late. We know parents are dropping off kids as well as drivers, and it is not easy with traffic, but we expect students to be in school and ready to start before the National Anthem at 7:40am.
I want to thank all of you for your questions, support and understanding this year. We have had an extremely successful year so far and it is because of the partnership between the school and all of you.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.
Scott Macdonald
MS Vice Principal
Next round of in-school PCR testing for students aged 16 and above will be held on March 14.
If your child is going to be tested at school, please make sure that they carry original or copy of both sides of Emirates ID or Diplomatic ID.
Passport copies are not accepted by MenaLab. If your child has not received Emirates ID yet, you can test at our designated testing center in Masdar City with a passport.
If your child does not get tested at school on March 14, please make sure that Green Al Hosn status is maintained by testing every 2 weeks. Our designated testing center Biogenix G42 Lab in Masdar City conducts biweekly free testing for students aged 16 and above (our school code 9086).
Students aged below 16 will continue testing every 28 days.

In the Arabic language class, we work on building students’ personalities and preparing them to be responsible individuals and citizens by researching and talking about topics that touch their reality and help them find solutions to problems. One of the students’ projects recently was to design a presentation and talk about bullying, its causes, effects and how to stop it and how the UAE legislate laws that protect its residents from this phenomenon, and the student, Omeir Al Jasmi, in the tenth grade was one of the distinguished students who shared the talk.
