Issue # 11 - February 27, 2026
Over the past few weeks, our Pre K students have been busy learning through play, exploration, and teamwork. In literacy, students have been enjoying story time, retelling familiar tales, role playing and practicing listening skills. In Maths, they have been counting, sorting and exploring shapes using games, and classroom challenges that encourage problem solving.
Students have also been strengthening their fine and gross motor skills through cutting, drawing, painting and outdoor movement activities. In our class discussions and circle time, children have been developing confidence and communication, especially through their “Weekend News” presentations, where they share updates, speak in front of friends, and practice taking turns asking and answering questions.
To extend learning beyond the classroom, students have participated in trips and outings connected to our themes, helping them make real world connections, observe their environment, and build curiosity about their community.
This week in Grade 1D, we conducted a fun and interactive “Addition Tug of War” activity to reinforce basic addition skills. The students were divided into two teams, and each correct answer helped their team move forward - just like a real tug of war. The excitement in the classroom was wonderful to see, as every child was actively engaged, cheering for their teammates and confidently solving addition questions.
It was a great way to build number fluency, teamwork, and positive classroom energy while making learning enjoyable.
Our Grade 2 students recently enjoyed an enriching and curriculum-connected field trip to the National Aquarium and Butterfly Gardens. This experience supported their Science learning by deepening their understanding of habitats, life cycles, ecosystems, and the importance of environmental conservation. Students observed marine life up close, explored how animals adapt to their environments, and investigated the role humans play in protecting natural ecosystems. They were particularly engaged while learning about efforts to protect and save sea turtles, discovering how conservation programs help rescue, rehabilitate, and return turtles safely to the ocean.
The visit to the Butterfly Gardens reinforced students' knowledge of life cycles and adaptation, allowing them to see real-world examples of concepts studied in class. Through guided discussions and questioning, students made meaningful connections between classroom learning and the natural world and were overjoyed when the beautiful butterflies rested on their heads and hands to say hello!
This field trip also supported our UAE National Identity focus by fostering appreciation for the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, environmental protection, and wildlife conservation. Students developed a greater understanding of their responsibility as young citizens to care for their environment and contribute positively to their community, reflecting the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future.
It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning that strengthened both academic understanding and national pride. A great time was had by all!
Our students have been using art to make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom. In January, From Empty to Full: Zero Hunger encouraged students to explore the global goal of Zero Hunger by creating powerful split-plate artworks showing hunger and hope side by side. Their thoughtful designs reflected empathy, awareness, and creativity.
In February, students participated in The Kindness Rocks Project, designing and sharing colorful rocks with uplifting messages. Our growing Kindness Rocks Garden is a beautiful reminder that art can spread positivity and brighten someone’s day.
We are so proud of our young artists for using their creativity to show compassion, community spirit, and global awareness.
