IB Exams, like AP Exams, have a cost associated with them. This is because AP and IB both are independent entities that Hilton High School interacts with in terms of curriculum and exams.
The following courses have a $98 fee for the exams in May 2026 - Students enrolled in these courses are highly encouraged to take the exam. Students who do not take the exam have not completed the IB course, and thus transcripts will reflect that.

September - October 24th, 2025 $98 per exam
November 8th - January 9th , 2026 $137 per exam
January 12th - March 4th, 2026 $253 per exam
Why do we encourage students to take the exam?
The entire course is geared towards the final assessment of the exam. It would be like a football game with no fourth quarter, or a marathon with no finish line. The exam lets the student know just how much they achieved in the course. Also, for a student to be eligible for recognition of advanced courses and potential college credit, they need to take the exam.
A note about Internal Assessments
Each IB course has assignments (called Internal Assessments) done during the school year that count towards the exam. These assessments might be writing a paper, performing an experiment, applying mathematics to the real world, etc. Because these are considered part of the exam grade, a student must complete these to be eligible for an exam grade. If they do not, they will receive an exam grade of "N" which means incomplete. All of these assignments are a part of a student's grade for that particular course as well, so not completing them harms their school grade as well. If a student does not complete the Internal Assessment for the class, then they will get no IB credit and they are also ineligible for a refund.
Refunds
If you pay for an exam and the student drops the course prior to October 27th 2025, the exam fee is refundable. After this date, no refunds can be issued.
