This hands-on, educator-focused workshop explores how low-cost, recycled cardboard materials can be used to create meaningful learning experiences that support social and emotional development in children ages 0–5. Participants will engage in simple, classroom-ready building activities designed to promote trust, cooperation, emotional expression, self-regulation, and problem-solving. Educators will learn how to facilitate open-ended play without over-directing, allowing engagement to emerge naturally while supporting children as they navigate differing ideas, emotions, and collaborative challenges. All activities are developmentally appropriate, require minimal preparation, and can be easily replicated in early childhood classrooms with limited resources and no technology. This session emphasizes process over product and provides practical strategies educators can immediately implement to foster connection, creativity, and emotional literacy through play.
