This event is over.
Welcome!
The Society of Postdoctoral Scholars (SOPS) at the University of Kentucky (UK) is hosting their Annual Research & Career Symposium to showcase the work of UK postdoctoral scholars and fellows, promote networking among the UK research community, and encourage discussions on career paths for postdocs and PhD students.
Symposium features
Keynote address
From an inspirational speaker to share some insights to our postdocs
Panel discussion on career options
Featuring professionals and knowledge experts from a variety of careers in academia and beyond
Opportunity for postdocs to share their work
Including a Postdoc Poster Session, Postdoc Talk Competition, and Postdoc 3MT Competition (with cash prizes!)
Symposium objective
The objective of the symposium is to give UK postdocs an opportunity to share their research, celebrate their successes, network with peers (including graduate students & faculty), develop professionally, and learn about possible career options.
Who is invited?
SOPS mission is to promote the exchange of ideas across disciplines. As such, UK postdocs from all fields are invited to participate!
SOPS also aims to foster cross-generational conversations with up and coming PhDs as well as established faculty. As such, graduate students & faculty are welcome and encouraged to attend! In fact, given how broad and diverse the audience will be, postdoc presentations will be general and accessible to a wide audience.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge to present at or attend the symposium. SOPS and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs provide funds to ensure access to these critical conversations to all junior scientists and scholars.
Where will it take place?
The symposium will take place in the Gatton Student Center, Grand Ballroom
Keynote address
The Future of CRISPR: What’s Ahead for Genome Editing
Dr. Jennifer Doudna
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry; Professor of Chemistry and Molecular & Cell Biology at the University of California Berkeley
Please note that Dr. Doudna will be giving her keynote address remotely. This is however NOT a hybrid event and attendance in person is needed to listen to her address.
