We are delighted that the University of Kentucky (UK) was selected to host the 2022 Graduate Career Consortium Southeast Regional Conference! This is a unique opportunity for all career and professional development in higher education to meet, connect, and share best practices in supporting students and trainees in fulfilling meaningful careers.
Graduate Career Consortium (GCC) Regional Meetings are a free benefit included in GCC membership, and are an excellent way to interact with and learn from your colleagues in a more intimate setting. These are fun, informal meetings that focus on sharing best practices and great resources. In addition to networking and learning opportunities, each Regional Meeting will have dedicated time for an update from your GCC Executive Committee.
In this spirit, the conference theme is focused on Community of Practice and brings many UK partners to the table:
Associate Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs at Western Carolina University
Co-editor of A Practitioner’s Guide to Supporting Graduate and Professional Students
The conference theme this year is focused on Community of Practice and is intended not only to bring those who support graduate students and postdocs together but also to create bridges to a broader Community of Practice by including others who support graduate students and postdocs (e.g. Directors of Graduate Studies), and others who provide career and professional development support at the University of Kentucky (e.g. undergraduate career counselors), to join in on ongoing conversations on how to provide broader career and professional development support in higher education. Together we hope to discuss commonalities and differences in our work with the goal of building a broad and inclusive Community of Practice.
Given the conference theme, all who work in career and professional development at UK, surrounding area, GCC Southeast Region, and GCC at large are welcome to participate and attend.
There is NO charge to participate in or attend the conference. GCC, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and the Office of Graduate Student Professional Enhancement provide funds to ensure access to the conversations to all higher education career development professionals.
Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over and also recognizing that social interaction is important for our mental health, the planning committee decided to cater to both by organizing the conference in a hybrid format. Speakers, guests, participants, and attendees will be able to select whether they would like to take part in the conference in person or remotely.
Please note:
The symposium will take place in the Gatton Student Center, Conference Room 330 AB (3rd floor)
Those attending in person will be required to wear masks at all time except when presenting at the podium and/or eating
Those attending remotely will be allowed to do so via Zoom
