The school vision is “Robert Louis Stevenson College and Career Preparatory prepares students for College and Career Success to make a positive contribution to our community.” SCCP is located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.
According to the School Accountability Report Card for the academic year 2019-2020, Stevenson CCP has 1145 students, of which 98.5% are Hispanics, .8% are African-American, and .3% are White. The school is located in the working part of the city which is reflected in the socio-economic status of the student body. According to the same report, 94.1% of students are classified as socio-economically disadvantaged, 12.1% are English Learners, .42% are foster youth, and 4.2% are homeless. Among all students, 15% are classified as having learning disabilities.
The California dashboard indicated that as a school, RLSCCP is only 37.7 points below standard in ELA while the Hispanic subgroup is at 38.3 points below standard. According to the California dashboard, this indicator “measures how far, on average, students are from the lowest possible score for Standard Met.” As the data show, Hispanic students perform slightly lower than average in the number of students that met or exceeded the standards as well as the number of points below the standard.
