These maps display San Diego County and its protected areas at various scales and levels of focus*. The protected areas are differentiated in the map by color, categorized by the authority responsible for management. For instance, the areas managed by the federal government are shown in purple. "Special districts" in light blue describe open areas such as watersheds and recreation areas managed by water/recreation districts.
