For the past 10 months, I have been a Head Counselor for UCLA Unicamp, the official-student run charity of UCLA. As a Head Counselor on the Leadership Team, my role entails training incoming transfer students to be amazing counselors to underserved children who come from the Greater Los Angeles Area! I also was a volunteer for Unicamp before starting UCLA where I particpated in rigious training and leadership sessions in preparation for camp with fellow incoming transfer students.
My work experience with students and education has given me a fulfilling experience and taught me important skills needed to acquaint myself with the different fields of higher education. I was able to work with disadvantaged students such as working in a special ed classroom during my times at the school. In addition, my work at the elementary school has provied me with more experience in the equity and accessibility aspects of higher education.
My passion for adventure stems mainly from my four years of high school playing water polo. I have been on the Varsity team for four years and have been Varsity team captain for three years. These roles have allowed me to become a leader and learn how to lead others during high pressure situations such as in a game.
I have participated in Calabasas Peer Support for four years in my high school, and was Team Leader of the Program during my senior year of high school. Being part of Peer Support, a program at my high school created to help freshman transition easier into high school, gave me the experience of developing leadership activities for my team and creating events together as a team for our school.
