Guided Practice
The intention for the day is to create inner peace. Inner peace is a self sustaining resource in addressing the man-made problems which have turned on man and, resulted in humans turning on each other. When engaging from a basis which is free from the overbearing weight of the ego, we are able to recognize to the humanity in the other person and respond appropriately. Conversely, they too get to become aware of themselves through mirroring on us.
We are mother and daughter. As a 40 year old active global citizen, a strong willed, defiant, nurturing African woman and defender of Kenya's heart and soul; I am well aware that this is the time to raise our humanity to new elevations. My daughter is 12 years old and she is aware that every human-being deserves equal and fair treatment by the content of their character and not on the basis what they cannot alter. We live in Nairobi, Kenya. Our country too is ripe for a raising of collective consciousness which with sensitive creativity, longs to be re-embedded in our anthropological memory of Ubuntu. Our reason for agreeing to be party to this 28 day mediation exercise was to create a window for the message of oneness in the human experience of suffering, resilience and healing to reverberate through our verbal introduction and relaxation meditative practice. For far too long, we have drawn our identity from the circumstances we are in thus minimizing the full expression of who we are by limiting what we do, where we go, whom we involve, how we carry our affairs and when we act. Kristabella's verbal piece is contemporary complimented with a message of where the True North for us all lies. I demonstrate the relaxation meditation with a voice over in a session which everyone can safely practice either alone or in a group any time of the day and in any place. If you want world peace, start with inner peace. Thank you for the opportunity.

While B.I.G. celebrates his rare rise from poverty into massive wealth, Erykah Badu paints a picture that is all too common: that of the hardworking come-up whose ambitions are cut short by violence. The song then goes on to point out the systems that keep Black people and working class people always close to violence, from banks toying with economies, to the U.S.’s sending low-income youth to fight unjustified wars in the Middle East.
