Edna Karina Tovar

Growing up in diverse Long Beach, California in my cozy Mexican home, my identity is truly a clash of all cultures.

But that clash has come from a great desire to explore. Whether that means traveling to far off countries alone or simply trying something new from the menu of the local Chinese restaurant around the corner.

This love for new experiences comes from my innate desire to learn about them. My mother used to tell me that she could give me everything I needed to complete my academic career, but that she could never give me the passion to pursue it. That, she said, had to come from my own motivations.

After having wondrously observed the world around me, I have become intensely interested in the social processes of the world. And so I am currently pursuing these interests at UCLA majoring in Sociology.
