Imagine a world where everything's in your least favorite color.
Imagine a world where everyone greets everyone in kindness but never sees you.
Imagine a world where your dreams and passion are despised and banned.
Sounds familiar?
This is the world for Ken in Barbieland.
This is the world for Nora in A Doll's House.
This is the world for ( _ _ _ _ _ ) in reality.
A Ken’s House is a fun, ironical play based on A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen and the movie Barbie (2023). In this play, Torvald Helmer has a horrible dream in which he becomes a Ken in Barbieland, ruled by females and has no power in the family. Correspondingly, his wife Nora becomes a strong, dominating Barbie and he must suffer everything he had once exerted to his wife.
At the end of the day, Torvald wakes up and finds everything back to what they were. But were his nightmares—the fall of patriarchy and masculinity, the rebel of females—gone, or were they just yet to come?
