Equipment
At Syracuse, Dylan works in the Digital Scholarship Space (DSS) and is able to aid with any questions or technical issues that you may have. It is best to let him set up the VR equipment, but it is important to have a minor understanding of what the equipment is and what it does.
Headset
Comes with a 3-in-1 cable, audio cable, earbuds, face cushion, cleaning cloth
Be sure to place the face cushion comfortably, and extend the headset outward if you have glasses for a more comfortable fit.
Adjust the straps to make sure the headset is securely placed. If you move your head around and the headset doesn’t stay firmly on your face, be sure to tighten it.
The power button is on the bottom. There is a dial on the back of the headset to tighten it around your head, similar to a helmet.
Link Box
Comes with power adapter, HDMI cable, and a USB cable. Let Dylan handle these.
Controllers
Comes with 2 power adapters, 2 lanyards, and 2 micro-USB cables.
Hold the remotes so that the circular pads are facing you, as these are used to swipe between brushes and change sizings. The trigger should be facing away from you.
Turn on the controllers before starting (press and hold the Start [3] button for one second).
Base Stations (2)
Comes with 2 power adapters and a mounting kit (a mounting kit includes 2 mounts, 4 screws, and 4 wall anchors).
The 2 sensors will be placed in the corner of the room, which is used to track and map your movement. You do not need to worry about these, but if you find that the remote is acting strangely, it may be because your back is to the sensor.
