Sean Alvaro began learning piano at 5 and the trombone at 8. Since then he has become an accomplished musician and educator. Sean was an All-Eastern Trombone player in 2023. He has also been a concerto contest winner, recitalist, and soloist with CNYAMT, OCMEA, Civic Morning Musicals, the Society for New Music, the Symphony of Northern New York, and more. Sean has experience as a professional jazz trombonist through CNY Jazz and as a pianist through several local churches and schools. Sean has also taught piano lessons and brass lessons of various age groups since 2021, sharing his enthusiasm and dedication with several local students. After graduating from West Genesee High School, Sean enrolled at Syracuse University to study Music Education, where he also continues his playing career as the principal trombone of the Syracuse University Orchestra and Syracuse University Wind Ensemble. Currently Sean is a student of Ben Dettelback and Ida Tili-Trebicka. While not making music, Sean can be found playing basketball, hanging out with friends, or traveling.
