The Buenos Aires Immersion program is required if you have not yet completed SPA 202 at Syracuse or the equivalent (four semesters of college-level Spanish). It is strongly recommended for all students, including graduate students.
You'll take one of two SPA courses while there. You'll learn more about these options in STEP 2.
All undergraduate students must take a minimum of 12 credits of Santiago courses, including...
Santiago Signature Seminar – Contemporary Issues in Chile and Latin America (3 credits). Instruction for this traveling seminar is in Spanish. Students registering the course for credit under HST, IRP, LAS, or PSC may attend optional review sessions in English. You may not drop the Signature Seminar. (Graduate students may petition to take the seminar at the 600-level with additional work required.)
A Spanish language instruction course. Undergraduates are required to study Spanish unless placing out of SPA 480.54.

Any online course originating from Main Campus or the College of Professional Studies
You may not earn more than 19 total credits ─ including credits earned for the Buenos Aires Immersion course ─ without approval from your home college. (Visiting students should seek approval from Syracuse Abroad for over 19 credits). Registration over 19 credits is subject to additional per-credit tuition charges.
