About AISIM
The effective management of civil infrastructure is crucial to sustaining the value of initial investments and ensuring long-term functionality. Around the world, engineers and asset managers are continuously developing innovative solutions to address challenges related to infrastructure planning, design, operation, monitoring, and maintenance. As the field evolves, it is essential for future infrastructure leaders to stay informed about emerging issues and ongoing research.
To fulfill this need, the Annual Inter-University Symposium on Infrastructure Management (AISIM) was established. The inaugural event took place on August 6, 2005, at the University of Waterloo, marking the beginning of a collaborative platform dedicated to knowledge exchange. AISIM is a full-day symposium designed primarily for graduate students but also attracts researchers, industry professionals, and representatives from infrastructure agencies, consulting firms, development banks, and other key stakeholders.
Over the years, AISIM has become a vital part of graduate education in infrastructure management. Each year, students from leading institutions participate in the symposium to present their research, discuss innovative ideas, and engage with experts in the field. AISIM not only fosters academic and professional networking at national and international levels but also provides students with opportunities to connect with industry leaders, strengthening their role as future infrastructure professionals.
