Why Studying Math is Different
Reading a math text is not like reading a novel. You may have to stop and think about some lines before proceeding.
Math is a cumulative subject. If you miss a concept one day, it may come back to haunt you and could even prevent you from understanding concepts you study later. Always get help as soon as you recognize that you have a problem.
Review your notes, they are there to help you!
Build up a network of math partners you can consult if you run into a roadblock.
(This includes Mrs. Mills!) These are the days of easy communication. Personal assistance during lunch, before or after school, telephone (school: 1-866-422-5116, cell: 204-740-0634), e-mail: chantalmills@shmb.ca, instant messaging & zoom meeting, are all available. Use them.
2025/26 Season: BWP not an option at this point
Current school bussing protocals have restricted our ski club from crossing the border to BWP this season. I am trying hard to circumvent this, but it is not looking promising.
I have planned our major ski day at Asessippi in March. We may have the option of going more than once, or travelling to other Manitoba ski resorts, however, these trips would mean missed school days or non-instructional days, rather than evening skiing.

June 2025/26 Saskatchewan field trip is off the table at this time. A smaller June event will be planned.
Previous Field Trip Costs on average:
Bus: $1/km
Educational Programing:
Waterslides:
Supper:
Total:
Fundraising Results:
Wrapping Paper: $
Grade 7 Students will be required to fundraise approximately $1000 this year to cover busing & program expenses for our June field trip.
Bus costs are $1.00 per kilometre.
Each student will have to raise approximately $XXX of profit.
Students who choose not to participate in our classroom fundraising activities throughout the year may have to subsidize the cost their trip in June or forfeit the fun filled day.
This unfortunate classroom policy has had to be initiated due to the lack of effort from a large group of students who have tended to ride on the coat-tails of some of their harder fundraising peers.
Grade 7 Classroom fundraisers may include:
Selling Wrapping paper: approximately 45% of sales (Mid-October)
Chocolate Sales (If needed)
Lunch fundraisers: 100% after costs (If needed)
