Getting the Day Started/Attendance
Most days, you will have a bell ringer to start the class. When you come to class, get your bell ringer notebook from your assigned cupboard, go to your assigned seat and get started on the day’s bell ringer. After the bell rings, those not in their assigned seat will be counted as tardy. Make sure that you come to class with paper, writing implements, chromebook, and assigned texts. If you absolutely have to leave the class to get needed supplies, I will be marking you as tardy. Sorry to be a bummer here, but class needs to start in a fashion conducive to learning. Let’s make a point of starting each day with our best foot forward.
Your chromebook doesn’t run on good feelings. Make sure that it is charged and ready to go for the day.
Behavioral Expectations
Please refer yourself to the blocked section near the top of this page. Be kind, respectful, and aware of your surroundings. What I mean by this is that you are in school with the set purpose of gaining skills and growing as an individual. Trust me, none of your parents or guardians hope you come home less intelligent. We have educational goals in mind and we need to keep those goals in mind.
I will let you know if your comportment is out of line and give you the chance to modify your behavior. If your behavior continues to have a negative impact on the learning of others, you will leave the classroom setting for the time being, parents/guardians will be notified, and we will follow the policies and paths laid out in the student handbook.
I have one more thing for you in this section heading. In a perfect world, every single one of you will have something called GRIT and a GROWTH MINDSET.. At the end of the day, my perfect student is one who has grit, works hard, and does their best to get everything they can from their courses.
Grading Policy
GRADING SCALE
A = 92.5% and above C = 72.5%
A- = 89.5% C- = 69.5%
B+ = 86.5% D+ = 66.5%
B = 82.5% D = 62.5%
B- = 79.5% D- = 59.5%
C+ = 76.5%
The gradebook will be based on a 75/25 percentage split between assessments and in-class work/homework. Your in-class work/homework will comprise 25 percent of your grade, and any assessments (quizzes, tests, papers, projects) will comprise 75 percent of your grade. Late work will be accepted without penalty up to one week from its due date. After that, it will be given a zero. Any excused days will be added on to your one week grace period.
Each semester, your lowest grade in the homework category will be dropped. You are welcome.
5. Student Absences
If you are gone, it is your responsibility to find out what was missed. My suggestion is to utilize your peers for notes and missing work, refer to work posted in Google Class or the daily rundown document to review what was missed, or ask your teacher before or after class for any clarifications that you might need.
6. Cell Phones
If you are bringing your cellphone to class, put it in the blue organizer in the back of the room. I know that your cell phones will miss you, but don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Sometimes a little space can be good for a relationship :)
Things to keep in mind:
Know that if a teacher sees it in their class, they will take it away for the day and you will get detention.
Know that everything about your cell phone has been designed to be addictive. It will be a struggle to unplug, but you can do it!
