Second Grade

September 28-October 2:

September 21-25:

  • Please watch the latest Musicplay tutorial video as sent through Remind and/or SeeSaw

  • Complete the full lesson at the following website: https://musicplayonline.com/modules/grade-2-lesson-1/

  • Through SeeSaw, Remind, or email (mkoch@g.sebeka.k12.mn.us) pictures and/or video of your child doing of the activities at the above site. Ask your child what their favorite part of the lesson was and let me know via the same outlets as mentioned for the photos/videos.

  • Thank you!

Week 8 (Last week! May 18-22):

  • National Anthem (National Anthem music ) I encourage them to sing this as much as they want all summer long! They do so well with it!

  • Aquarium listening You need to go to Carnival listening . There is a coloring sheet much like the other ones that have come out. They have been fun for me to look at during this time apart!

  • 88 Bought Me A Cat https://musicplayonline.com/grades/grade-2/ This is a traditional song the kids usually love. It continues to add the animal and sounds at the end. (Easy to figure out when you see and hear the movie)

  • 93 Swimming They really need to watch the KID’S DEMO movie at https://musicplayonline.com/grades/grade-2/ I LOVE this song and the actions, and then taking out words one phrase at a time but keeping the actions! It is such fun to do. The demo will teach them much faster and more easily than explaining it here.

  • 94 Goin’ On A Picnic This one is so much fun in the classroom because each kid gets to add something genuine or silly to the picnic. In the song, your child (& anyone who wants to sing with them) gets the chance to add 7 things. It is an echo song. https://musicplayonline.com/grades/grade-2/

  • I encourage you and your second graders to explore other songs at https://musicplayonline.com/grades/grade-2/ or even go back to the Kindergarten and 1st grade songs if they want at the tab toward the top of the site page. (The Musicplay online site is free through June, I believe, so they can do these on their own if they want) What a great opportunity for my students and I love it!!

  • There are also games on the right hand side in Musicplay Online. Have them pick a game. (I suggest for second grade the following:Which rhythm do you hear? What instrument do you hear? Beat or Rhythm, Up and Down, Beat or No Beat, Loud Quiet game, High Low game, Fast Slow game.) Let me know which ones they try and what their score is (not all games keep a score).

Week 7 (May 11-15):

Once you have followed along, try to sing the song. Mother's Day is over, but I bet Mom would love to have you sing for her!
