Problem Statement
Oftentimes, students find themselves having limitations on their monthly allowance as they have to manage groceries, stationeries, electronics, etc. on a set budget. Trying to be both cost-effective and time-efficient is tricky at times. Thus, a platform where the users can quickly compare the prices of the products from different stores would be useful.
The Solution
Our solution is to provide students with an application that equips them with sufficient information regarding the prices of items across stores in their geographic vicinity. Users are provided with options from different outlets, compared by price point, enabling them to make appropriate decisions for their purchases.
The application would allow users to navigate through various products that are available in stores that are in proximity to their current location. Users can compare the cost of the products and then add the optimal priced items to a virtual cart, where they will be provided with all relevant information about the products they wish to purchase (store, location, price, etc.). They will then be redirected to a virtual shopping list which will include a mini-map of the best possible route to complete their cost-effective shopping. The solution aims to not only provide the most cost-effective products to purchase but also the best routes to optimize the time spent on shopping.
The Target Audience & Stakeholders
Our target audience mainly consists of students, as it is common for them to have constraints on their expenses. The solution can also be expanded to those individuals who are mindful of their spending and want to make the best out of their budgets.
The stakeholders include the merchant stores, small scale business shops and delivery-service companies.
