The purpose of this site is to foster an appreciation of marine science and enlighten educators of all grade levels and teaching subjects on the wide spectrum of ocean-related content, activities, and research provided by NOAA through the lens of my experience as a Teacher at Sea. In addition to frequent updates of my participation and interactions with learning opportunities aboard the ship, this site provides teachers with educational outreach resources to implement ocean-related activities and strategies in the classroom.

The far left column contains three sources of content, strategies, and relevant examples of marine-based science projects designed to assist the teacher and students in the process. Each project describes an overall objective that provides the students with an endpoint and opportunities to design, construct, model, test, and analyze the final product or deliverable, based on their creativity, innovativeness, and problem-based approaches. Sources are provided as a means of support and a knowledge base for the proposed project. The listed sources are provided for inspiration not replication. Students are should engage each project with their own sense of unique, innovative and creative ingenuity in their path to a final product.
