The Richardson ISD Foundation provides scholarships to help students pay for their future in college, technical or vocational schools. This year, we’re is proud to team up with several community partners to offer more than $50,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in the Richardson Independent School District.

Alyssa Little Foundation Scholarship

The Alyssa Little Foundation Scholarship is awarded in memory of Alyssa Little, who graduated from JJ Pearce. Alyssa was an inspiration to everyone she met. This scholarship honors a graduating senior from JJ Pearce High School.

Scholarship Amount

One (1) $2,500 scholarship to a graduating senior at J.J. Pearce High School

Scholarship Criteria

  • Minimum GPA of 2.50.

  • Student must be a full-time student at a two- or four-year accredited college or university.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • Award based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, personal character, and outside activities such as work, volunteer service, etc.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topic: Write about an event or person that has influenced your life in some way.


Anderson Bonner Endowment Scholarship

The Anderson Bonner Endowment Scholarship is named for former slave and extensive North Dallas landowner Anderson Bonner. Mr. Bonner amassed nearly 2,000 acres of land in the Richardson School District by selling the produce he and his family raised on their farms. Mr. Bonner greatly valued education.

Scholarship Amount:

One (1) $8,000 scholarship to any graduating senior in Richardson ISD

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.75.

  • Student must attend Prairie View A&M University full time with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topic: Write about an event or person that has influenced your life in some way.


Dr. Carolyn Bukhair AVID Scholarship

The Dr. Carolyn G. Bukhair AVID Scholarship was named in honor of Dr. Carolyn G. Bukhair. Dr. Bukhair served as superintendent of RISD for many years. As superintendent, she was instrumental in bringing the AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) program to Richardson. This scholarship recognizes graduating seniors from L.V. Berkner, Lake Highlands, J.J. Pearce, and Richardson high schools who have demonstrated success in the AVID program.

Scholarship Amount:

Eight Scholarships – One (1) $1,000 scholarship each to two (2) graduating seniors from L.V. Berkner, Lake Highlands, J.J. Pearce, and Richardson High Schools

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.50.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topic: The impact of AVID on my life.


Eagle to Eagle Scholarship

The Eagle to Eagle Scholarship honors two outstanding Richardson High School Students who previously attended Spring Creek Elementary School. The scholarship is a gift to a Spring Creek teacher from her husband.

Scholarship Amount

Two (2) $2,000 scholarships for a graduating senior at Richardson High School

Scholarship Criteria

  • Students MUST have attended Spring Creek Elementary School.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.50.

  • Students must attend a four-year accredited college or vocational school full time.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • Award is based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, personal character, and community involvement/giving back.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topic: Write about an event or person that has influenced your life in some way.

Fujitsu Network Communications STEM Scholarship

The Fujitsu Network Communications STEM Scholarship was created to encourage students who have completed and excelled in four years of STEM classes in Richardson ISD to continue their education in a college or university.

Scholarship Amount

Three scholarships in the following amounts – One (1) $4,500 scholarship, one (1) $3,500 scholarship, and one (1) $2,500 scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.

  • Students must have taken four years in any combination of science, technology, engineering, and/or math classes passing with a grade of B+ or higher.

  • Students must be entering a two- or four-year college or university and major in a STEM field.

  • Students must submit an essay describing their decision to choose a STEM field as their major and specify their major STEM field of study in the essay.

  • Students must also provide information that provides the selection committee with additional insight into the student’s character or personal challenges they may have overcome.

  • Students must provide the full name and email address of two (2) people who are either their STEM teachers, counselors, extracurricular instructors/coaches, or mentors who will provide a recommendation.

  • Fujitsu will choose recipients of the scholarship awards based on a combination of factors, such as academic performance, essay submissions, recommendations, personal character, and financial need.

  • Required Essay Topic: What area of STEM is of interest to you and why?


Janet Bliss Mello Scholarship

Janet Bliss Mello was a teacher with Richardson ISD for 24 years, teaching at Yale and Hamilton Park Elementary Schools and in the Gifted & Talented Program. Her calling in life was education, and she worked passionately and tirelessly to improve learning for children. This scholarship is intended to help a student who qualifies to attend a four-year college or university and pursue a degree and career in education.

Scholarship Amount

One (1) $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior in Richardson ISD

Scholarship Criteria

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Student must attend a four-year accredited college or university with the intended purpose of becoming a teacher.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Award is based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and personal character.

  • Required Essay Topic: Why teaching is my career choice.

Memorial Park Academy Scholarship

The Memorial Park Academy Scholarship was established by The Richardson ISD Foundation to honor students who have overcome significant obstacles to go on to successful school careers and graduation.

Scholarship Amount

Two (2) $2,000 scholarships for a graduating senior at Memorial Park Academy

Scholarship Criteria

  • Minimum GPA of 2.50.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topic: Write about an event or person that has influenced your life in some way.


National Council of Jewish Women HIPPY Scholarship

The HIPPY program was created to partner with parents to prepare their children for success in school. HIPPY focuses on the power of parents and caregivers to positively affect early brain development and school readiness for preschool children. The NCJW scholarship was established to honor and encourage a former HIPPY preschool student to continue their education in college.

Scholarship Amount

One (1) $1,000 scholarship to any graduating senior in Richardson ISD who was in the HIPPY program as a preschooler

Scholarship Criteria

  • Minimum GPA of 2.50.

  • Former HIPPY preschool student who participated in HIPPY for two (2) or three (3) years.

  • Student must be a full-time student at a two-year or four-year accredited college or university.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • Award based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and personal character.

  • This scholarship is non-renewable.

  • Required Essay Topics:

    • How has HIPPY affected your families’ lives? Please share how your parent(s) have helped you to be successful in school. How did HIPPY benefit and/or affect you and your family? Be specific.

    • Because these scholarships are being given by the National Council of Jewish Women, we would like for you to know about our organization. The following is our National organization’s website http://www.ncjw.org/ and our local section’s website http://ncjwdallas.org/. Please find some things that are interesting to you. Would you want to volunteer in one of the areas in which we work? If so, which area(s) and why?

Ray H. Marr Foundation Trades Scholarship

The Ray H. Marr Foundation Trades Scholarship was created to help students pursuing post-secondary training in construction or manufacturing trades and/or pursuing a license in these trades to complete their training. Scholarships will be limited to the cost of the program up to a maximum of $5,000.

Scholarship Amount

Three (3) $5,000 scholarships for a graduating senior in Richardson ISD

Scholarship Criteria

  • Open to all Richardson ISD graduating in a traditional or non-traditional setting.

  • Transcript required to demonstrate attendance in Richardson ISD schools.

  • Stated goal is training and/licensing in the construction or manufacturing trades.

  • Demonstrated interest in going into the trades by class participation in Richardson ISD CTE programs, extra-curricular activities that demonstrate this interest, or working in construction or manufacturing while in school.

  • Full name and email address of two (2) people who will provide a recommendation. One recommendation must be from a teacher or counselor.

  • Funds are paid by semester.

  • Required Essay Topic: Write about an event or person that has influenced your life in some way.
