During my last semester at UT, I participated in the UTLA program where I lived and interned in Los Angeles. I was both a production intern at ABC Studios and a development intern at a small reality house called Goodbye Pictures. At the time, I thought my dream was to stay in LA and become a big-name director, but in all actuality, LA did not feel like it was right place for me. I didn’t want to be a small fish in a gigantic pond. I loved media and I loved working in sports. I didn’t feel like I had to be anchored in one place to do that. I soon decided to leave LA, and I moved back to Texas to focus on a career in sports broadcast.
Luckily, I already had my foot in the door. Throughout my college career, I worked to build a relationship with the people at ESPN by working the occasional Longhorn home game, Super Bowl when it was at AT&T Stadium, and NBA Finals back when the Mavs were still a force to be reckoned with.
Since moving back from LA, I have worked almost exclusively with ESPN. My most memorable achievement is out of the three years I worked on College GameDay, I received Sports Emmys from two of those football seasons as an Associate Producer for “Outstanding Studio Show – Weekly”. After my time with College GameDay, I have worked to bring SportsCenter coverage on the road as both a producer and a camera op. Other noteworthy projects that I’ve been a part of include the Rio Olympics, the CrossFit Regionals and CrossFit Games, going to Cuba to cover the Tampa Bay Rays vs the Cuba National Team, as well as helping local fitness establishments and coaches with content for their websites and social platforms.
