HEAD COACH:

Kelly Dansby 

The 2024-2025 season is Coach Kelly Dansby's nineth season as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Richardson High School.   Last season, Coach Dansby's varsity finished 23-14 overall bringing home another Gold ball to the nest making this four years now being back to back Bi-District champions.  In the 2020-2021 Season, Coach Dansby led her team to 20-4 overall record; 11-1 district record with a 7-6A District Championship.  Coach Dansby was also named 2020-2021 7-6A Coach of the Year.  In the midst of a pandemic, the Lady Eagles were able to still persevere and stay on top.   In 2019-2020, Coach Dansby was honored with RISD Head Coach of the Year Award.   In the 2018-2019 Season, Coach Dansby led her team to 23-12 overall record; 10-4 district record making the playoffs for three consecutive years in her RHS tenure.  The Lady Eagles finished up 3rd in district with impressive area and district honors.  In the 2017-2018 Season, Coach Dansby was selected 9-6A Coach of the Year.  The Lady Eagles tied for 1st in the District being named co-District Champions, Bi-District Champions, Area Finalist and RISD City Champs.  District honors included 9-6A District MVP, 9-6A Newcomer of the Year, two 1st Team All District, 11 Academic All District, and 3 Honorable Mentions.  Richardson was ranked #5 in the state for 6A conference (the Best in Team School History), was also ranked as high as #2 in the state for several weeks in the season.  Richardson High School Girls program is recognized as one of the Top programs in the Area and State.  The Lady Eagles finished the 2017-2018 season with a 11-1 District Record and an Overall Record of 29-5.  Before coming to Richardson High School, Dansby was Assistant Head Coach at Mesquite Horn from 2013-2016 and West Mesquite from 2010-2013 assisting both programs to successful seasons and program honors.  She has been coaching for eighteen years and promotes academic success as well as success on the court.  She has a true passion for coaching girls basketball and believes that success is built on what she calls the 3 D’s: Determination, Dedication, and Discipline.  “You have to be determine to dedicate yourself to Hard Work which requires discipline.”  Coach Kelly Dansby has Bachelors of Science degree from UTA and a Masters degree in Education Administration from Lamar University.  Coach Dansby teaches PE and is the PE/Health Dept. Head at RHS.
