Students, parents, staff and business leaders provide their first impressions of Richardson ISD's P-TECH Academies
Our new academies are based on the P-TECH framework, and will help RISD accomplish its strategic planning goal of enhancing endorsements and pathway options for our students and families. This is a comprehensive process developed by IBM. P-TECH stands for Pathways in Technology Early College High School.
Experience and participate in college courses at no cost due to dual enrollment.
Gain real world skill such as time management, relationship building, and communication.
Build a resume and work ethic through internships, apprenticeships, and job training.
Start college with up to 60 credits.
Earn a high school diploma, college credit, a two-year post secondary certificate, or industry certification.
Upon graduation students have the academic and professional skills required to either continue their education in a four-year post secondary institution or enter into entry level careers in architecture, engineering, construction, business, advanced manufacturing, animation, gaming, criminal justice, and other competitive fields.
Incoming Freshman for the 2021-2022 school year are eligible to enroll.

No. Students must complete an application and participate in summer bridge.
RISD will continue to provide AP courses. The P-TECH Academies provides another option for rigorous programming that our students and families can choose from.
The RISD CTE department will be at feeder junior high schools and high school preview nights. Contact your school counselor based on grade/alpha to get more information or put you in touch with the CTE department.
