What is a P-TECH Academy?
Our new academies are based on the P-TECH framework, and will help RISD accomplish its strategic planning goal of enhancing endorsements and pathway options for our students and families. This is a comprehensive process developed by IBM. P-TECH stands for Pathways in Technology Early College High School.
Benefits of P-TECH
- Experience and participate in college courses at no cost due to dual enrollment.
- Gain real world skill such as time management, relationship building, and communication.
- Build a resume and work ethic through internships, apprenticeships, and job training.
- Start college with up to 60 credits.
- Earn a high school diploma, college credit, a two-year post secondary certificate, or industry certification.
Upon graduation students have the academic and professional skills required to either continue their education in a four-year post secondary institution or enter into entry level careers in architecture, engineering, construction, business, advanced manufacturing, animation, gaming, criminal justice, and other competitive fields.
