6th Grade

There are currently 3 sections of 6th grade choir and this is where all 6th grade singers will begin their choir journey. During their first year in choir, we will review the music-reading skills they obtained in elementary school, and will build upon those skills through the choral lense.

This group participates in fall, winter, and spring concerts as well as a spring festival. Singers are also highly encouraged to participate in Solo & Ensemble and to audition for the All-Region 6th Grade honor choir, but neither are a requirement.

More details to come when we officially transform into a middle school!!!

Bel Canto

This non-auditioned group is for all 7th & 8th grade treble voices who are either new to choir or did not place into Chorale Treble. These singers work towards building and developing their skills as musicians, that way they can strive towards varsity membership in the future.

This group participates in the Texas UIL Concert & Sight Reading state assessment in the spring, merging with Concert Treble in order to form one non-varsity choir. Singers are also highly encouraged to participate in Solo & Ensemble and to audition for the All-Region honor choir, but neither are a requirement

Concert Tenor Bass

This non-auditioned group is for all 7th & 8th grade tenor/bass voices who are either new to choir or did not place into Chorale Tenor Bass. These singers work towards building and developing their skills as musicians, that way they can strive towards varsity membership in the future.

The members of this group will be taught the Chorale Tenor Bass UIL repertoire list at the beginning of the spring semester, and must complete a pass-off in order to join Chorale TB and participate in the Texas UIL Concert & Sight Reading state assessment as a varsity choir. Singers are also highly encouraged to participate in Solo & Ensemble and to audition for the All-Region honor choir, but neither are a requirement.

Note: Pending enrollment, Concert Tenor Bass may be merged with Chorale Tenor Bass so that both choirs meet and rehearse during the same class period.

Chorale Treble

This auditioned group is for 7th & 8th grade treble voices who have at least 1 year of choir experience. Chorale Treble members should be strong music readers, have an ability to blend with the voices around them, and the drive to work toward various individual and group achievements.

This group participates in the Texas UIL Concert & Sight Reading state assessment in the spring as a varsity choir. Additionally, all varsity singers are expected to participate in Solo & Ensemble and are highly encouraged to audition for the All-Region honor choir.

Sound Express

This 7th and 8th grade auditioned group meets weekly outside of school hours to prepare choreographed songs for various performances throughout the school year. They tour the community around the holidays, represent our program at various school functions, and perform on our winter and spring choir concerts. This group is a great opportunity if you are interested in singing pop tunes or would like to experience a mixed co-ed ensemble.
