College and Career Exploration

Unit 1 - Google Workspace 

We have been working at learning all the basic features of the Google Workspace including Google Slides, Docs, Gmail and utilizing these tools to set tasks and reminders for ourselves. Now that we have these skills we will be using them in future assignments to make our assignments look more professional and dynamic.  We will utilize our task list and google calendar to keep track of important dates and upcoming deadlines. 

Unit 2 - Life Goals and Career Interests

We will explore the choices we make for housing, automobiles, utilities, food and entertainment. We will calculate what those choices will cost to estimate what our expenses will be. We will then connect those anticipated expenses to career choices and goals. We will explore the pathways of Business, Marketing and Finance, and Healthcare. We also discussed the available P-Tech programs that allow a student to earn up to an Associates degree during high school as well as usable industry certifications.

Unit 3 - Build and Repair

We explore Architecture, Interior Design and Automotive Pathways at the high school and which careers and certifications they can lead to. During this exploration we did an interior design and also built a rubber band powered car.

Unit 4 - STEM 

We explore Engineering and Robotics and Computer Science. Students will try their hand at problem solving and working together toward a common goal.

Unit 5 - Preparing for my Future - Financial Literacy 

We will be working on our Financial Literacy and how to apply for and get our first job. We will build a resume and interview for a job. We will be finalizing and submitting our portfolio of work to use in our job interview. Students talk to your parents to see what tips they have for interviewing for a job. What are some things you should say/not say to put your best foot forward?
