What is an ARD meeting?

ARD stands for Admission Review and Dismissal. ARD meetings happen once per year. An ARD meeting brings together a group of teachers, parents, admin, and other specific staff to review a student's progress with their Individual Education Plan and create a new one. This plan helps make sure you have everything you need to succeed!
I, as case manager, have to give your parents a heads up when the meeting is coming up! I will give you an envelope to give to your parents!
If you are old enough, YOU may be invited to come join the ARD and either sit and listen or lead the meeting with me!

What are special student services?

Special Student Services (also called special education services) are ways of helping students who have specific learning challenges. Everybody who gets special education services has a verified disability / obstacle that can get in the way of their learning. Once a student gets into the program, they can get specialized help from all of their teachers as well as other staff to make sure they are successful.

How do I know if I am getting special student services?

Not everybody gets special education services! If you do, you are probably aware already. Your case manager may have already talked to you, or you know you are in a certain program or class for your specific needs. If you are confused, you can always come talk to me, Ms. Munoz!

What is a case manager?

A case manager is a teacher who looks out for a group of students who get special education services. Your case manager makes sure you get everything you need to be successful. They make sure that your teachers know that certain things can be harder for you, and that you always have help when you need it. They also work together with your parents and teachers to create an education plan that helps you grow!
Your case manager is there to help! Always feel free to ask them questions if you are concerned about anything- ESPECIALLY if it has to do with special education or academics!

I am struggling with a class. What do I do?

Ask somebody for help! You can reach out to your case manager, your teachers, counselors, and your coaches for help! Standing up for yourself and saying "I need help with..." or "I am confused on..." is one of the best skills you can have!

Ms. Munoz, YOU are my case manager! How do I reach out to you?

Excellent question! If I see you in a class, you can always pull me aside and talk to me! If not, you can always email me by clicking here, or swing by my room- room B111. I move around the school a lot, so I am not in there all the time. Your parents also should have me on Talking Points, and can message or email at any time as well!
You can also come to my tutoring after school in B111 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays!
