First Meet our Sponsors
Before you meet our Officers, allow us to introduce our hardworking sponsors Berkner Theater could not run without, Dr. Jill Hotz and Mr. Ed Twiss. They put so much into the program to ensure a safe, friendly, and impactful learning environment and are the reason our shows can happen. Dr. Hotz has been a director of theater for almost 25 years and with the addition of Mr. Twiss as the head of technical theater; the program has never been more complete.
Dr. Jill Hotz has been a theatre teacher for 31 years. This is her twelfth year at Berkner. She loves working with the greatest talents of Berkner High School and is thrilled with the blessing of molding them into better performers, and more successful, confident adults. The sky is the limit for Dr. Hotz with Mr. Twiss at her side. The BHS theatre directors demonstrate the skills of artistic collaboration, family loyalty, work ethic, and fun.
Berkner’s tech director, Ed Twiss, was initially a parent volunteer who discovered a love for the technical side of the shows. He is now building a top-notch tech theater program.
What do Officers do?
Our Theater Officers are in charge of a range of things depending on their role as either president, vice president, drama lead, tech lead, secretary, treasurer, historian, or social media manager. They are leaders within the program and work to help encourage and guide students to perform their best in all facets of their work. They help plan shows, advertising, rehearsals, and more! If you ever have questions or concerns feel free to reach out.
How are Officers selected?
Officers for Theater are selected through a program-wide student vote. Those who want to be officers apply for a position and are interviewed before being put on a roster for the theater student body to vote for who they believe would best fit each position. These elections are held at the end of each year so that the officers are set and can prepare for their next year in leadership.
