Notice the facial expressions on the members of Voctave, even though they are recording in a studio. Why are they making expressions when no one will see them? How will that change the sound?

Ombra mai fu, Aksel Ryvkkin, October 2017, his last performance as a soprano
Die Forelle (The Trout), Aksel Rykkvin, July 2018
The Water is Wide, Aksel Rykkvin, 2019
This is a very talented young singer. It's not often that you get to hear the soprano->baritone switch so up close. Notice how he uses the same techniques with his new voice.

Send me your compositions! I really like seeing what you're coming up with.
Here are a couple I put together today:
For this one, I started with the melody in Songmaker, then changed it around some. After I had the melody the way I liked it, I added the second, lower, voice, and put in some percussion. There were about 3 different percussion lines before I found one that I liked.

Pura Vida Virtual Choir
Check Google Classroom for instructions on how to make your Pura Vida video for the virtual choir.
Wear a black shirt and find a plain, light-colored background. (see the virtual choir below)
For the part at the beginning when we turned around with our back to the audience, just face forward, but for the finger snaps, put your hands between your face and the camera so we can see the snaps. Don't worry about the sound--I'll take care of that part.
You can use whatever device you would like. You can do this on your chromebook, but you need earbuds/headphones. Because of the finger snapping, if you're using your phone, you need to set it on something instead of holding it.
Load the Pura Vida Performance mp3 on your device so you can access it. You can listen on your phone while you record in Flipgrid. Or you can listen on your computer at the same time you are recording--that's what I did.
Go to Flipgrid and make your video!

Listen to these two performances. What is the difference between a really large group singing a piece and a very small (one person to a part). Notice the extended Soprano note at the end. We have talked about staggered breathing. Notice how successfully it is done in both the large and small choir versions.
I included this for fun, and to remind you that even professionals rehearse in weird ways:
