Dear Kindergarten Families,
Welcome to Week 12 of In Home Learning. Can you believe that this is the last week of school and on Friday, June 19th school will be out for the summer? I know that none of us expected our school year to go virtual in March and finish out the school year connecting on a screen. We are so proud of you and are honored to have been your teachers.

The Zoom meetings have been so much fun! We have been privileged to be invited into your homes, meet other members of you families, see the family pets, rejoice in lost teeth and celebrate birthdays, etc. We will have a very special Zoom meeting on June 19th from 3:00-3:30, with the whole kindergarten on at the same time. More information to follow.

We have tried to make the last week of school fun. Our Social Studies/Science focus is on bears. Bears are pretty cool animals. We have included a link to take a virtual field trip to a river where the kids can watch bears in the wild, fishing for their food. Your teacher’s all enjoyed watching them. We had to drag ourselves away.

The year 2020 has taken some pretty interesting turns. We have had Covid-19 which has affected everything that we have known as normal. The last two and a half weeks our world was rocked again with the untimely death of George Floyd. We want to acknowledge this horrific turn of events and let you know that we are doing our own personal soul searching. We want to be part of the solution not part of the problem. We also know that the conversations around racism are difficult. We found a beautiful story called, “White Socks Only,” that might be a conversation starter for your family. Please see the link below.
