LITERACY - WRITING

Your assignment from your teachers is to work on revising your Fairy Tale this week. Below are some supports that will help you with that assignment.

Below are examples of the revisions students who see Mrs. Zaremba are expected to make.

  1. Come up with a character.

Give your character a name.

Think about what traits your character has. Traits describe what a character is like, how they feel, and how they behave.

2. Write multiple pages. Write each new idea or event on a new page.

3. Add 1 or more details to each page.

Use these prompts to help you come up with details:

Who was there?
What did it look like?

When did it happen?

How did the character feel?

4. Write your story in order.

First . . .

Next . . .

Then . . .

Last . . .

5. Use sentences and words that sound like your character would actually say. This is called voice.

What is your character feeling when they say that?

Example:

"I am hungry," Sally said.

"Wow, I'm so hungry I could eat a whole entire elephant!" Sally laughed.

Use the revision checklist below each time you work on revising your Fairy Tale this week.

This is a modified version of the checklist posted by your 3rd grade teachers.
