University

Philly Thompson currently studying my final year of Business Management with Marketing at Harper Adams University, I recently finished a one year placement as marketing assistant for the business KRONE UK as part of my degree. I thoroughly enjoyed the Travel and Tourism course at QE as I learnt so many practical skills such as customer service and events management, which helped me in my working placement year as marketing assistant as part of my degree.

Jess Logan moved onto Events management - Leeds Beckett. Jess is currently doing an internship at a country club in New York. ‘I feel like the travel and tourism a level really helped me to have an insight into the type of industry I wanted to pursue a career in. It also improved my writing skills and helped me to be more confident with writing assignments’.

Mel Green currently studying International Tourism Management at Leeds Beckett University “The modules I learnt on this course has allowed me to be one step ahead in my modules I’m currently studying, it gave me great ideas for what I’d like to do in the future, including a placement year at Disney Land”.

Sydney Raper currently studying tourism and events management at Northumbria university and currently doing a placement year working in a country club just outside of Miami working on front of house. The course helped me as it got me interested in the industry and helped me find something I’m passionate about, whilst developing skills to allow me to work successfully.

Natalia Pleniceanu left QE and progressed onto studying Linguistics and TESOL at York St John University. "I made a wise choice in studying Tourism at QE and reached my full potential, with the help of my teacher Marie Hedley who had maximum dedication and care in helping to pave my future path."

Ambra Di Gennaro and i studied Travel and Tourism in my last year of being a student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form. I am now a second year student at Northumbria University studying Film and Television Studies. One aspect of my learning that was vastly improved on when studying Travel and Tourism was my organisational skills. Due to the amount of coursework we had it was important to stay on top of things. At university this has made me structure my workload in a helpful way and make sure that i’m staying up to date on all my modules.

David Aspery is currently studying Geography at Liverpool Hope University. The course opened my eyes to the word and encouraged me to explore it!

Danielle Bell, completed travel and moved onto Teesside University to study marketing. ‘The travel course gave me a foundation to move forward as travel in college covered a broad range of areas’


Employment

Julia Farndale competed travel and now I fly for British Airways,I would say the course helped me gain very helpful base knowledge about the travel and tourism industry to help me in my job and give me skills for the work environment.

Etka Ale currently working as a research and development laboratory technician in Newcastle, after completing my Master’s from the University of Birmingham. I did travel and tourism at A-Level and even though Travel & Tourism is a completely different subject from the other subjects (biology and chemistry) I did during my A-Levels, it did help me tremendously with time management, writing skills and being able to think creatively as well as work with other people.

Olivia Bussey completed travel and is currently at Manchester Airport working with over 70 airlines as Aviation Travel Trade Marketing Manager. Travel & Tourism at QE allowed me to learn about various areas of the tourism industry providing me a solid foundation of knowledge and encouraged me to go on to pursue further studies in Travel & Aviation which lead to me discovering my passion for travel marketing. QE helped me discover the industry that I can honestly say is the most exciting, pioneering and rewarding.

Cara Morris after leaving college I started work full time at Grantley Hall an exclusive hotel in North Yorkshire. I hope to develop my skills and work my way up within the organisation on their management training scheme! I thoroughly enjoy working in hospitality. Taking Travel and Tourism at QE really helped me gain confidence and skills towards progressing my knowledge within customer service. The course was very successful for me, I couldn’t have asked for better teachers and I was so lucky with the help I received. At the end of the 2 years I was very pleased with the grades I achieved making all the hard work worthwhile.

Ellie Armstrong working as a travel agent, working with members of the public on a daily basis. Working as part of a team and working to targets and deadlines. Meeting new people and no day is the same. The course gave me confidence, punctuality, valuing equality and diversity, communication, All which I use every day



Apprenticeship

Lewis Race completed and went on to take up a banking apprenticeship with Barclays in Sunderland Travel and tourism really helped me because it suited the environment I like to work in and had many different modules to work on which I found really interesting, but gave me the skills to manage my workload, time and be confident with people and situations.
