"The chemistry course at QE is a very lively and interactive course. Chemistry is not an easy subject and you could feel lost in it but the method of teaching here makes it easy to find your way out - helping you learn instead of just providing you with lots of information. The staff are extremely helpful and responsive to your needs. They will definitely make sure you remember that covalent bonds are strong!"
"As a prospective medicine student at university, I'm really glad that I chose to study chemistry at QE. The teachers do a wonderful job of helping you to achieve the best results you can, they are excellent at providing resources for you to use in your revision, and they always make time for you if you need any help.
Whilst studying chemistry at QE, I've greatly improved my understanding and my technique during practical work. I really enjoyed using the infrared spectrometers from Newcastle University to test the purity of the samples of Aspirin that we made in lesson, gaining some insight into the real world uses of chemistry in drug testing.
Chemistry at QE is full of interesting and relevant topics, about how we can use chemistry as we move towards being more sustainable."

“Chemistry at A-level is a bit of a rollercoaster; some days it feels impossible and others it feels natural. However, nothing good ever happens without some difficulties. I’m not going to lie, A-level chemistry is hard, it is confusing, stressful and a little bit manic. However, that’s why I love it. Every lesson is something new, something unpredictable and that’s the best way a lesson should be. Sometimes I walk into the classroom and am met by a wall of heat and a concoction of smells that are pretty horrible but that passes instantly as the realisation hits that we’re doing practical and fun is going to ensue. Other times I walk in and it’s calm and I relax into a lesson about a new topic and often scratch my head trying to figure it out. Chemistry is a social lesson, where you communicate with your peers and most of my new friends are thanks to chemistry."
"Opting to study chemistry was an easy choice; you are always understanding interesting information about the world around you. I have really enjoyed learning about how and why reactions occur the way they do. Chemistry requires teamwork and communication which are great skills that can be transferred to multiple situations."

"Studying chemistry has been interesting for the full 2 years I have taken it due to the fact you are always learning new information about the world around you.
Also, if you are studying other science subjects, it really aids in giving you a full understanding of how topics connect and complement each other."
"I really enjoyed studying chemistry at QE and I found the course very interesting. It allowed me to push myself in understanding hard topics. The practical work especially helped in understanding the content and was fun to do. The support from the teachers is very good and they helped me as much as possible, so I could do my best in chemistry."

"I have really enjoyed studying Chemistry at QE, especially doing all of the experiments, and I feel I have learnt a lot over the last two years.
I am going to study Mechanical Engineering at university and although it isn’t very similar, many of the skills I have learnt in chemistry will really help me. Chemistry is a challenge but the teachers are great and they really push you to do your best."
"I am currently studying Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at Newcastle University, hoping to work in the pharmaceutical industry once I graduate. I can safely say that without the supportive staff in the Chemistry department at QE I would not have been as prepared for Chemistry at university. Frequent practicals at QE really helped to secure my understanding of the concepts we were being taught, and whenever I had a question, it would be readily answered, during class or when I sought out one of my teachers after class. Whilst I’ve always had an interest in Chemistry, studying it at QE definitely cemented that passion and enabled me to pursue it as a career."

"I am currently working as an Assistant Psychologist for Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. After leaving QE, I graduated from the University of York with a BSc in Psychology and moved to study my MSc in Health Psychology at the University of Bath
Doing Chemistry A-level at QE helped me to think strategically about scientific problems, and how to implement these into practical experiments. I developed many transferable skills for my career as a Psychologist, and A-level Chemistry has helped me to think about my research and how to logically implement my ideas into my practice. The support I got from the Chemistry Department was brilliant, and it meant I wasn’t afraid to ask for help when I didn’t understand something.”
