Roland School’s House Group system fosters a sense of camaraderie, encourages healthy competition, develops school spirit and rewards positive actions. There are five house groups, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, and Black. Each house group having school staff as leaders, and a mixture of students from Kindergarten through to Grade 6.

Roland School assigns each new student to a house when they first arrive, and they remain with that house throughout their years here. This fosters a sense of camaraderie and loyalty between the youngest Kindergarten students, and the older students who are their role models.

Each student and staff member of a house can accumulate points throughout the year based on participation in all aspects of school life which include, but are not limited to: school spirit days, early dismissal colour days, making good citizenship choices, etc. Throughout the year, staff may award students and other staff members a 10 point ballot for acts that positively represent Roland Raccoon pride. A running total of house group points will be displayed on the hallway monitors to encourage friendly competition amongst the groups.

The house group that accumulates the most points by the end of the year receives the Golden Raccoon in a school-wide awards assembly. Members of the victorious house group will receive the privilege of a house group party during the final week of school.
