Introduction

The African American Parent Advisory Committee [AAPAC] is a network of parents who have African American students at Palm Middle School. The mission of AAPAC is to provide a forum to hear and share ideas of Palm Middle School's African American parent community and to respond to those ideas by educating and informing parents of resources, policies, and programs. It is our goal to empower the lives of all African American students and families by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for a high quality educational experience. We understand that in order for a student to be successful, it takes more than a teacher, counselor, administrator, or parent. It takes all of those people working together to help students achieve academic success. AAPAC works to develop resources that will encourage parents to more actively support the academic instruction of their students and engage with educators and administrators at Palm. Through AAPAC, it is our hope that we are able to lift every parent's voice and help less engaged parents find their voices.

Purpose

The purpose of the AAPAC Council is to improve academic outcomes and ensure equitable participation in opportunities that support success in college and career by engaging parents and caregivers of African American students.

Educators' Commitment

We are committed to advocating for equitable access to educational technology, digital content and learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students. In the capacity of Educators, we would like to ensure that curriculum, presentation of instruction, access to instruction is equitable and parents have opportunities to advocate and actively involved in the decision making for their student's academic success and well-being.
