Hello! Welcome to my STEAM Digital Portfolio. Although I am a new teacher, I was blessed with the opportunity of taking the MVUSD STEAM Certificate program. From the courses, my goal was to find more sustainable and equitable practices that can be utilized in the classrooms. Throughout the courses, I have learned equitable and engaging strategies that can be implemented into the class to teach STEAM.
My STEAM vision and mission is to provide students with engaging and equitable STEAM lessons aligning interdisciplinary standards while giving them opportunities to struggle, yet succeed thus fostering a growth mindset environment. Students are often unfamiliar with struggling and because of the pandemic, students had fewer opportunities to experience and complete difficult tasks. This has lowered student's tolerance of the unknown and has them more prone to feeling frustrated. By incorporating multisensory instruction, students will be able to EXPERIENCE science first-hand and obtain a more wholistic understanding rather than rote memorization.
