On Fridays, we wear black and teal!
Every Friday it's time to show your Cougar Spirit! Wear your teal and black, your class shirt, team shirt, club shirt, or program shirt to earn 5-Star points.
Homecoming is a traditional high school event that corresponds with a football game.
Each year, there's a different theme! That theme is used for the assembly decorations, for the football halftime show, and for the dance.
The homecoming dance is usually held the day after the homecoming football game. It's held at the school and is casual!

Club Rush is a great way to find out what clubs are available to join!
Club Rush occurs in the fall AND the spring so you have lots of chances to see what ways you can get involved.
If you didn't see a club that you want to join and have an idea for a club, you can start one! See the Club page on this site for more information.
Assemblies, or pep rallies, highlight our athletic teams each season, include performances from campus groups, and fun staff vs. student competitions!
Each grade level has their own section of the gym. Usually, the spirit day for an assembly day asks you to wear your class color so in the gym we should see a block of your class color in your section!

We recognize and celebrate our scholars in two events each year. Grades of a 3.5 GPA or above are invited to an event with treats, music, and games.
1st semester's Academic Event recognizes the academic achievements made in the 2nd semester of the previous school year. So, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited who have earned at least a 3.5 GPA.
2nd semester's Academic Event recognizes the academic achievements made in the 1st semester of the current school year. So, now, freshmen are also invited to attend!
We have created a tradition of giving back to our community through our Week of Giving. Typically occurring in November, we request donations from students and staff to support the MVUSD Wellness Center.
We have held clothing drives, supply drives, and gift card drives. All have been successful and we have been privileged to be able to provide the Wellness Center with needed items to support our community!
Winter Formal is the first off campus dance of the school year. This dance can be held anytime between December and February. All grade levels are able to attend...even freshmen and sophomores! Appetizers, desserts, and soft drinks are always included in the ticket price.

Our Staff vs. Student Basketball game has become a tradition! Usually held in March, before Spring Break, our staff and student teams go head-to-head to see who will take home the trophy and the bragging rights. So far, the staff team has defeated the student team. Let's see who will win this year!
In addition to our Week of Giving, we highly encourage clubs and programs to give back to our community. We have many service oriented clubs that you can join...take a look at the approved clubs list to find one you are interested in!
The Leadership program has a major service project that we host each year. It is a prom for our severely handicapped students from throughout the school district. We work with other clubs, community groups, and local businesses to host this event.

Start off and end your year with your classmates! Each year, on the first day of school, seniors gather outside the stadium to enjoy each other's company and watch the sun rise on their senior year.
As the year comes to a close, seniors gather again, but this time, they are watching the sun set on their senior year. Senior Sunset is also our Senior Movie Night, where you can enjoy an evening under the stars with a student-selected movie!
Traditional senior trips for CSHS seniors have been Six Flags Magic Mountain (usually in January or February) and Knott's Scary Farm (usually late September or October).
Anyone purchasing a ticket needs to maintain 95% positive attendance in order to remain eligible to attend. Major disciplinary action may also make a student ineligible to attend.
Baccalaureate is a time where you will get to be with your classmates in a smaller setting prior to graduation to celebrate and reflect upon your time at Canyon. This is the one graduation event that isn’t planned for you by adults…your senior ASB members are planning and organizing this occasion. This is not a religious ceremony – but a time of reflection.
The ceremony features the senior memories video, senior song, senior performances, and staff speakers (chosen by the senior class). During this event we also pass the school spirit flame to the incoming senior class.
Additionally, this is the first time you get to officially wear your graduation gown (no cap)!
We invite all graduating seniors, family, friends, and staff members to join us for this optional event.
CSHS traditionally attends Disneyland Grad Nite the Friday after graduation (this date is subject to change since it depends on Disney!). We have a park hopper ticket which allows us to go to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure until 9pm, then seniors go to the private Grad Nite party at California Adventure until 2am. In addition to rides, there are also DJs with dance areas spread out over the park.
Recently, we added ANOTHER grad nite, this time, it's Universal Studios Grad Bash! We will attend their private Grad Bash where rides and dance areas will be available to the grads. This year's ticket includes a meal voucher and a souvenir bag with each ticket.
