The Sound of Murder By Don Zolidis
The director is dead. And one of the iconic musical theater characters from Broadway is the killer. It’s up to two hard-boiled and slightly crazy detectives to uncover the truth – was it a problem like Maria, a singing cat, Alexander Hamilton (what exactly is this “shot” he was referring to?) Or was it a certain barber with an unhealthy obsession with pie? Go on a wild tour through musical theater history in this hilarious and flexible comedy.
Our goal is to take this show and also add in and incorporate the Haunted Maze (on Friday, Oct. 30th) with it. Those involved in the Fall Show are invited and Encouraged to be part of the Maze.
Show & Performance Information
This show will take place on stage in the Vista del Lago High School Theatre November 12-13 at 7pm.
Tickets will be available for presale or at the door.

Audition Schedule:
Thursday, Sept 10 - Auditions in the theatre after school 3:45-5:00 for new actors
Thursday, Sept 10 - Auditions in the theatre during both lunches for our veteran performers with a memorized monologue
Friday, Sept 11 - Auditions in the theatre during both lunches but also available online need to be completed by the 25th
Friday, Sept 11 - Cast list will be posted
Monday, Sept 14- Crew List will be posted
Tuesday, September 15 - First Rehearsal!! All cast & crew, first informational meeting & Read Through from 3:45 - 5:00
Audition Specifics:
Tech Auditions:
Tech auditions are available online this year or in person on Sept 11th during both lunches or after school in the theatre. Please fill out the Tech Application. All applications are due by midnight on Friday, Sept 11th. (Google Classroom: vjdomkfo)
Acting Auditions:
Veteran Vista del Lago theatre actors will audition during either lunch on Thursday, Sept 10, 2026, in the theatre with a memorized monologue. Remember, this means you have performed as a primary performer in a previous show. Come prepared with a memorized monologue and a slate to introduce your monologue.
Audition Monologues for ALL others will happen after school on Thursday, Sept 10th, 2025, from 3:45-5:00. (Google Classroom:vjdomkfo )
During auditions I will be looking for:
Auditions will be on Sept 10 from 3:45 - 5:00. They will consist of improv activities & a cold reading from the script (that will be provided).
What we're looking for in auditions:
Character
Movement
Projection
Emotion
Relationships with other characters
Following dramatic rules (for example no back to the audience, turning out, not burying your face in your script etc.)
Who are we looking for:
All types of students and All types of abilities
Experienced performers and new performers who are committed, passionate and excited to learn!!
