How We Can Help Our School
Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) play a vital role in strengthening schools and supporting student success. They create partnerships that drive measurable outcomes—stronger schools, more engaged families, and better student achievement. When parents and teachers work together through PTA, everyone benefits.
PTAs connect families to schools, encouraging parents to participate in their children’s education. This involvement is proven to lead to higher grades, better attendance, and improved student behavior.
PTAs serve as a bridge between families, teachers, and school leaders. Through meetings, newsletters, and events, they keep everyone informed and promote open, effective dialogue.
From membership dues to community fundraisers, PTAs generate critical funds to support school needs—such as educational programs, technology, facility improvements, and enrichment events.
PTAs organize dedicated volunteers who assist with school events, classroom activities, mentoring, and more—helping schools run more smoothly and efficiently.
PTAs offer programs that expand learning beyond the classroom—like field trips, arts programs, STEM nights, book fairs, guest speakers, and after-school clubs.
PTAs advocate for student wellness by supporting initiatives related to nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and school safety—ensuring students are healthy and ready to learn.
Through family nights, cultural celebrations, and school-wide events, PTAs foster a sense of belonging and connection that strengthens school spirit and community ties.
PTAs monitor local, state, and national education policies, and give families a voice in decisions that affect schools. They help influence change and push for policies that support all children.
Whether it's helping fulfill parent involvement requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), or implementing improvement plans, PTAs align their efforts with school goals and needs.
Local PTAs can support a wealth of programs like literacy, safety, diversity, leadership, and family engagement.
