個人リサーチサポート:研究構想報告・研究計画ポスター作り
Happy New Year!

Sep. 19, Oct. 5, Oct. 19, Oct. 26
Summer is over, and Term 2 has begun. Now, students are brainstorming topics they want to use for a research paper next year.
Each student can choose any topic, and then find information about it. The goal is to create a research question in November.
Teachers support students by asking questions and helping them find resources. Everyone is working hard to discover lots of new insights!

インタビュースキルを身に着けるための活動をしました 。
June 1, June 15, June 22
Students used these classes to work on their SDGs research and schedule interviews with members of our community.
Many students then called or emailed people and conducted interviews with teachers, social workers, government officials, and company executives, among others.
Next month, students will present their findings and research so far with hand-made posters.
4月・5月の活動
1: April 13 – Orientation and note-taking
In our first class, students discovered the goals and plans for this course. This year, we will learn about SDGs and research issues related to them.
We will practice skills to help us with lifelong learning. After our orientation, students read a news article (天声人語 from 朝日新聞2020年4月16日) and watched a YouTube video (How we learned that bees perceive time by Tom Lum 2021).
Students practiced the Cornell Note Taking Method.
2: April 20 – Question Formulation Technique (QFT)
We continued to build skills by practicing making questions.
How do we find a “good” question? Students read articles about Drone Cars or Extreme Ironing, and brainstormed questions in groups. We spent time using the inquiry cycle to tune in, find out, sort, act, and reflect about question-making.
3: April 27 – Guest speaker Katata-sensei
To practice our skills in a real situation, Katata-sensei, the library technician at Kochi Nishi/Kokusai J/HS, gave an interesting talk about her life and her values.
Students first took notes, then generated questions using QFT. It was a valuable and entertaining class. Thank you Katata-sensei!
4: May 11 – Putting it all together
Students first reflected about their learning in the first three classes, and then started to think about the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Each student chose one area they are interested in. From here on, they will be doing research and focusing their ideas, with the eventual goal of writing a research paper in third year.
5: May 18 – SDGs and key people
Teachers arranged the students into study groups based on their SDG choices from last class. Students are interested in a variety of topics, especially societal issues like Gender Equality, and environmental issues like Climate Action.
During this period, students did online research about their choices.
They narrowed their ideas and tried to connect them to their future goals in life. Next time, students will arrange for interviews with com
