About Our Lab
_______________________________________________
Welcome to the Hsu Lab at Academia Sinica. Our research focuses on nanoelectronics and theoretical chemical physics. Our Lab is particularly interested in exploring the physical properties of 1-5 nm scale transistors (electronic devices) based on novel materials (molecules, graphene, and molybdenum disulfide) because at this scale, quantum, non-equilibrium, many-body, and interface effects become significantly important. Our lab is also interested in developing new theories and methodologies to understand physical and chemical phenomena in molecules and condensed matters. Our group has four main directions in research:
Nanoelectronics (Molecular Electronics and 2D Material Electronics)
Methodology of Quantum Transport Theory at the Nanoscale (Electron, Exciton, Heat, and Spin Transport)
Light-Matter Interactions at the Nanoscale (Plasmon-Coupled Exciton Transfer and Nonlinear Spectroscopy)
Ultrafast Dynamics and Signal Processing

Job Openings
The Hsu Lab focuses on nanoelectronics and chemical physics, including principles and their applications, from a theoretical standpoint. Trainees can expect to receive training in basic electronic structure theory, quantum transport theory, molecular quantum electrodynamics, nanoelectronics, spectroscopy, and numerical techniques. We encourage our trainees to learn to explore, to plan, to develop, and to answer!
Research Assistants: Please submit your CV to Dr. Liang-Yan Hsu.
Undergraduate / Graduate Student (Master):
Conducting research during undergraduate years is a fantastic way to learn, expand, and apply your knowledge. Students can expect to learn the basics in condensed matter physics (electronic structure theory and quantum transport theory) and nanoelectronics. Please submit your research interest (What research topic you are most interested in) and CV (The courses you have taken) to
Graduate Student (PhD) & Postdoctoral Fellow Candidates:
Trainees are expected to develop their own projects over their research, and with an emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, independence and troubleshooting skills. Please submit your research interest and CV to
